End-of-Year Greeting: Big Challenges Coming in 2025

In this busy, year-end season, only a few short days remain in 2024.

Throughout the past year, together with our group members, we have taken on extreme challenges for the sake of our vision of “realizing a Venture Ecosystem”.

From our company’s founding in 1998 until achieving a value of 10 billion yen, we concentrated most management resources on our two original companies to expand those businesses. However, on our 20th anniversary, we transitioned to full-scale group company management. Since then, we have poured all our efforts into “realizing a Venture Ecosystem” (i.e., ecosystem management). Currently, we operate with 23 group companies and 30 investment companies. I believe that we have finally reached the starting line for our vision of realizing a Venture Ecosystem.

In general, there is no way to completely eliminate the risk factor of starting a new company. Even so, by establishing a cooperative structure and creating diverse risk portfolios as part of a Venture Ecosystem, we are able to protect and support each other. We are profoundly grateful that most companies within our group maintain profitability and achieve robust growth every year; this is truly the fruit of the daily effort and individual growth of the CEOs and employees of our group companies.

We will continue to welcome entrepreneurs and executives with high ambition and potential to join us, and startup companies that have established advanced business models in the fields we focus on. Through these additions, we expect our group to double in size within the next five years. At the same time, we will also support companies outside of the group in various ways, and by creating a true startup support platform (i.e., our Venture Ecosystem), we will be able to contribute to society.

Over the past year, 10 new companies have joined our Ecosystem through forming new companies out of our existing ones, CVC investments, M&A, and strategic capital & business alliances. The number of professional advisors serving our group has grown as well, through the addition of wonderful individuals with both exceptional skills and outstanding character, which strengthens our logistical support system. Recently, we’ve been getting more and more requests to join our group, which reinforces the conviction we feel every day: that a Venture Ecosystem is absolutely essential to society. This realization also fills us with a renewed sense of responsibility. By further enhancing our stage and platform so the next generation and those that follow will be able to take on challenges more easily, we hope to spread a culture of fearlessness, deep-seated tolerance, and acceptance throughout society.

This year, through our involvement in the Walking Together Hand-in-Hand with Children Foundation, we were able to donate to 27 children’s psychiatric treatment facilities across the country. We also supported seven other children’s homes and organizations, including Lights On Children, Bond Project, and the Frances and Sachio Semmoto Foundation. Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen our support for the children who will lead Japan’s future.

D-POPS GROUP, together with all the partners in our Venture Ecosystem, will continue to dedicate ourselves to our tasks with high aspirations and a grand vision. We greatly appreciate your unchanging support and cooperation. Above all, we will contribute to society by creating more employment and increasing our tax contributions through the steady growth of our business performance.

I sincerely wish all of you a prosperous and happy new year in 2025.
