Creating an Indispensable
“Venture Ecosystem”

The survival rate of startups 20 years after their founding is said to be only 0.3%. In other words, the harsh reality is that most startup companies fail. To address the challenges of managing a startup company, we have created a system that supports capable leaders and entrepreneurs in their efforts. This system enables the realization of a risk portfolio that can withstand various headwinds—such as economic shocks, legal revisions and regulations, or large-scale disasters like earthquakes—and makes strategic risk hedging possible. This is the "Venture Ecosystem" (platform for our community's growth and sustainability) that we are promoting.
We have two main strategic concepts:
・"Entrepreneurs’ Conglomerate Premium - Focus on ICT"
A synergistic approach to group management led by entrepreneurs, focused on the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) domain, encompassing telecommunications and IT.
・"Incubation Platform for Startup Ventures"
D-POPS GROUP aims to serve as the fertile ground where startups and venture companies can grow.
By steadily advancing these strategies, we aim to create a Venture Ecosystem that will continue to be indispensable to society even 100 years from now.

What led you to pursue 
the realization of a “Venture Ecosystem”?
Since founding my first company at the age of 25, I’ve faced countless challenges and hardships. Looking back, I see that my lack of management know-how, knowledge, and insights was the primary reason for these struggles. During tough times, I directly experienced the harsh realities of society. However, I was fortunate to repeatedly encounter people who supported me—senior executives, corporate leaders, or even renowned entrepreneurs representative of Japan. It is only thanks to this extraordinary luck that I have survived thus far.
Thanks to these experiences, I recognized the need for a societal framework that provides support and stands by entrepreneurs—in other words, a Venture Ecosystem. Instead of seeing promising entrepreneurs fade away, I want to help them grow their companies significantly and contribute to society. By working alongside these entrepreneurs, we ourselves aim to make a lasting impact on society, as well.
Why do we need to support startup companies in Japan?
Japan's startup investment is said to be just 1/35th of that in the United States. Compared to other nations, the amount invested in startups here is strikingly low. Over the past 30 years, Japan's economy has fallen far behind globally, to the point where there are no Japanese companies in the top 30 by market capitalization. A culture of risk-aversion and a lack of entrepreneurial knowledge in Japan has significantly contributed to this dilemma. To break this cycle and revitalize Japan's economy, we need to foster more startups, create new jobs, increase tax contributions, and generate a positive cycle of growth. I see this as Japan’s last chance to change, which is why I am fully committed to supporting startup companies.
What kind of society does D-POPS GROUP aim to create?
We envision a society where young people can take on challenges freely and boldly, and where such individuals are supported and recognized; a society with the depth to embrace and encourage these efforts. In life and work, there is no single “correct” choice. We aim to create a society where individuals, with their unique personalities, can shape and invent their own lives; a society that we can pass on from generation to generation.
A message for those interested in joining D-POPS GROUP’s Venture Ecosystem:
We are always thinking about how best to provide support within the Venture Ecosystem. This could mean fostering the growth of entrepreneurs themselves or augmenting their growth strategies. We do not simply help them when their businesses are failing; rather, we want to come alongside entrepreneurs and leaders who carry big visions and high ambitions despite their daily struggles.
Within the camaraderie of our group, you’ll find a space where we can mutually inspire and esteem one another as we grow together—a true community. While you may have heard “It’s lonely at the top”, we believe that surrounding a leader with companions will foster strength and help to unlock that leader’s full potential.

The Symbol of the Unicorn

If you visit our headquarters in the Shibuya Hikarie building, you will see a unicorn prominently displayed at the entrance, and multiple other unicorns depicted throughout the D-POPS GROUP office space.
These symbolize the aspiration that not only D-POPS GROUP itself will become a unicorn company, but also that additional startups worth ten billion yen, IPOs, and unicorn companies will be continuously produced from within D-POPS GROUP.
The growth of startup companies generates new employment, contributes more taxes, and revitalizes society. Therefore, we are committed to contributing towards such a positive cycle.

Companies are Tools for Society

When I decided to start a business at 25, it was largely due to the impact and inspiration I received from reading books by Panasonic's founder, Konosuke Matsushita. It was the first time I heard that it was possible to contribute to society by managing a company.
At that time, I recalled the courageous spirit of international students I had met while studying abroad, and I became convinced that without creating the stage where such young people could challenge themselves, Japan would have no future. That was the concept behind my entrepreneurship.
Our mission at D-POPS GROUP is to create a startup company that is "indispensable to society" and representative of Japan. Above all, we cherish creating smiles and joy for our customers through the philosophy of "empathetic customer service" that we have held since the beginning, and we are committed to moving forward with all our member companies towards realizing a company that "creates delight and brightness for people through innovative business".
We believe that this ultimately leads to the happiness of all our stakeholders (customers, business partners, shareholders, and member companies).
